At Yarranlea Primary School, we believe in the neurological and social benefits of participating in music. Therefore we have developed a Music Immersion Programme where every child is involved musically in some way.
All students across Prep to Year 6 participate twice a week in ‘Yarranlea Voices’, grounding students in a solid awareness of pitch while exploring language through song.
In 2017 Yarranlea launched an Instrumental Programme. Preps begin on ukuleles, Year 1’s on piano keyboards and Year 2 to 6 students are invited to undertake Orchestral Strings.
Yarranlea supplies each string student with an instrument (currently violin, viola or cello). Students are offered 2 small-group lessons per week plus a larger group incorporating all string players (“Stringendo Ensemble”) once per week.
